Hey Friends,
High season is in full swing here in Tamarindo and it has been great to have so many visitors with us at church this past month.  January was an exciting month with much to celebrate.  A couple of highlights over the past month included our 5 Year Anniversary at Tamarindo Church, and our annual mission trip to Nicaragua.
FIVE YEAR ANNIVERSARY
On January 14th, Tamarindo Church celebrated it’s 5th year of serving and reaching our community.  We celebrated in thanks to God for His faithfulness in bringing us to where we are today… but we  were also able celebrate all the He has in store for the future.  One of the “funnest” parts of our service was being able to share the big announcement that we had reached our initial goal of raising $200,000 for the  building campaign!  We were also able to announce that we are hitting the “Go” button on construction of the building.  Reaching this goal was a significant milestone in our church as it is allowing us to move forward with construction.  So to remember this day, as part of our service, we asked our kids and adults to take a moment during the service to express their thanks to God by writing a “note of thanks” to God.  We’ve collected those notes of thanks, and when we begin construction, we will be embedding them in the foundation and structure of the new building.

Praise be to God for His generosity toward Tamarindo Church as we cross over into a new season for our church.  We are moving forward in hope and anticipation of all that God has in store for our church and for how God will impact  many lives in our community through the church in the years to come.

NICARAGUA MISSION TRIP

In the final week of January, eighteen people from Tamarindo Church headed up to Nicaragua for our annual mission trip to serve our friends in Cristo Rey, Tipitapa.   This year, our focus was a bit different than in the past in that, instead of building homes, we focused on helping a local school in Cristo Rey called FundaCristo.  This school has a vision for impacting the lives of kids in Cristo Rey by providing them with a quality education.  During our time in Cristo Rey we poured floors in the classrooms, painted walls, hosted VBS lessons and crafts, and distributed food to the poor.  In addition  ,some of the folks on our team took an extra step in impacting that community by sponsoring of some of the kids we had met and served during our time there.  Their sponsorship will not only pay for the schooling of those children, but they will be able to visit and encourage their sponsored child into the future.   We look forward to a continued partnership with FundaCristo and their vision for helping these children and families out of poverty.  If you would like to learn more about FundaCristo or about sponsoring a child, just CLICK HERE  to visit the FundaCristo website.

PLEDGE DRIVE UPDATE
As mentioned above praise God, we have reached our initial goal of $200,000 for hitting go on construction.  This initial amount will

allow us to complete the second floor of the church building which will include the sanctuary, storage, a kitchen and bathrooms.  Now we are in our second phase of fundraising for the bottom floor.  The bottom floor will include the children’s church rooms, office, fellowship room, youth room, small kitchen, and bathroom.  To complete the bottom floor, our goal is to raise $160,000.  We are happy to report that we have already raised $78,000 in pledges toward this phase.  So this means we are only $82,000 away from our final goal!  Thank you to all who have given toward our building fund so far. We are super grateful for your generosity.  If you are interested in learning more about the building campaign or would like to give toward this effort just CLICK HERE.

Thank you all again for the many ways you give of your time, talent and resources to the life and ministry of Tamarindo Church.  And thank you all for your prayers, as we know this is all God’s grace in allowing us to experience this season of growth and building.

Peace,
Lyle & Stacey

SPONSOR A CHILD @ FUNDACRISTO SCHOOL

On January 22nd, Tamarindo Church led a team of folks up to Nicaragua to help with construction at a school called Funda Cristo.    This school has a vision for nurturing children in faith as well as in academic education through graduation from high school.  Considering the stats on education of children in Nicaragua, this is a worthwhile endeavor.  Here are some startling stats on education for children in Nicaragua.
Only 72% of children finished primary school in 2009, the latest year for which data is available. This low figure hides bigger inequalities as only 65% of children from the poorest 20% of families completed primary school compared to 98% from the richest homes.

Secondary school figures are unsurprisingly much worse:
46% finished the first tier (9th grade/year 10), and only 19% completed 11th grade (year 12). In the poorest families, only 6% of children finished secondary school.

To help Fundacristo in their vision of seeing kids get a complete education from 1st grade to graduation from high school, please consider sponsoring a child.  You can do so by going to the Fundacristo website.  CLICK HERE to go to their website and find out more.

MINISTRY TEAM
Thanks to God for our staff and volounteers who serve in many roles in the church. Please pray that God would continue to build a sense of unity and family among our core church members… especially our Board, our Pastor Advisory Group, and our Volunteer Team.  Please pray that God would bless our ministry team with gifts of the Spirit to serve and lead well.

FINANCES
Please pray to our Father that he would meet our needs in the coming year through pledges and regular supporters!

OUTREACH
That God would create a spiritual hunger in our community, and that we would see many come to a saving faith in Jesus Christ.  Please pray that our church members would be salt and light in the community to those who are not saved.

CHURCH LIFE

Praise and thanks be to God for the many new people he has brought to be a part of our church.
CHURCH PROPERTY
Thanks and praise be to God in providing the initial $200,000 needed to start construction of the church.  Please pray also that God would provide the additional $160,000 we need to raise to complete the project.  This $160,000 will allow us to complete the first floor which will include the children’s church rooms, office, youth room, fellowship room, kitchen and bathrooms.

LYLE & STACEY

SPIRITUAL PROTECTION
Prayer of spiritual protection over our family and our church Ministry Teams…. guarding us from spiritual attack and oppression, and anything that causes dis-unity and divisiveness in the body of Christ at Tamarindo Church.
