Openings- Part Time Ministry Positions

Position 1: Pastor Assistant

Character & Skills

  • The Pastor Assistant will demonstrate a healthy spiritual walk with God that sets an example for other believers. This includes:
    • regular practice of time in Prayer , service and Scripture reflection/study.
    • personal character and a lifestyle consistent with what is described in Titus 1:5-9 & 1 Timothy 3:1-7.
  • Demonstrates a love for Christ and a love for God and for people.
  • Has at least two yrs experience in church leadership.
  • Has a heart for reaching and discipling the international English-speaking community in and around Tamarindo.
  • Is a self-starter and takes initiative and follows through on completing tasks.
  • Can communicate/teach the bible in ways that people can understand.
  • Can facilitate individual and group discipleship/home groups.
  • Is a team player… works well with groups; Demonstrates good communication skills; Resolves differences in ways that are healthy and honoring to Christ and others.
  • Can follow the lead of the Senior pastor or team leader.
  • Can lead and delegate responsibilities to volunteers. 

Position Description

Meetings

  • The Pastor Assistant will meet with the Pastor at least once a month for checking in and ministry planning and prayer.
  • The PA will regularly participate in the Core Group Gatherings once every three month. 

Sunday Morning

  • Prep & Print Sunday Bulletins
  • Prep worship for Sunday Mornings- Powerpoint slideshow, chord sheets, practice during the week.
  • Set up Sound & Break Down Audiovisual

Preaching/Teaching/Leading

  • Preaching approx. every 4-5 weeks
  • Preaching/Teaching in absence of pastor when needed
  • Assist in leading worship team on Sunday Mornings
  • Assist in preparation & leading of Mission Trips and Projects
  • Occasional leading of Men’s Group and possibly home/small group
  • Other duties as assigned

Website/Communications

  • Website management- Loading new pics, updating from time to time.
  • Loading sermons onto website
  • Facebook posts/ads for events
  • Loading photos from TC Events onto Facebooks or Website
  • Fielding Email inquiries about TC from people moving to the area, visiting the area or interested in missions.
  • Editing and reviewing pastor documents/letters/updates

Church Programs

Assisting Pastor with logistics for Church events/programs… planning, set up, break down of audiovisual, tables, & chairs for events such as:

  • Fundraisers
  • Parenting Courses
  • Marriage Courses
  • Spring Festival Outreach
  • Easter
  • Christmas
  • Thanksgiving

Church Maintenance

  • Maintenance such as… Light bulb replacement, Repairing insulation, etc.
  • Prepping for “church project days”- organizing a day when men/women can come and knock out things to do around church.
  • Opening/Closing Church when people use church space for events.
  • Key Drop off and retrieval for groups using church for events.
  • Transporting Mission Trip donations from sound room to Storage.
  • Other duties as assigned

Supervision

  • Pastor Assistant will serve under supervision of the TC Pastor.
  • Pastor Assistant will meet once per month for ministry meeting with TC Pastor/Staff to check in on life and ministry.
  • Pastor Assistant may have required readings/training as part of staff meetings.

Time Commitment- 12 Hours/week- $700/month


Position 2: TC Children/Youth Intern

Reaching and ministering to children and families is a top priority for our Tamarindo Church. Families with kids make up a large part of our community demographic.. and we feel called to care for these families by providing resources and programs that serve their spiritual needs.   With this in mind, we believe that a person who fits the following criteria, and who can fulfill the following duties, will help our church more effectively serve families in our community.

Character & Skills

What kind of person are we looking/praying for to fill this position? We are looking for a person who:

  • Has at least 3yrs experience leading children/youth ministry.
  • Practices a healthy and growing relationship with God.
  • Has a heart for reaching and discipling the international English-speaking children and youth in our community.
  • Has gifts/abilities for relating to kids/youth and for helping them to learn to grow as followers of Jesus.
  • Has integrity and character that reflects Christian values.
  • Is a self-starter and takes initiative and follows through on completing tasks.
  • Can communicate/teach the bible in ways that kids can understand.
  • Can facilitate individual and group discipleship/bible studies.
  • Is a team player… works well with groups. Demonstrates good communication skills. Resolves differences in ways that are healthy and honoring to Christ and others.
  • Can follow the lead of the Senior pastor or team leader.
  • Can lead and delegate responsibilities to volunteers.

Position Description

The primary responsibilities for this position will include:

  1. Children’s Ministry-
  • Volunteer twice a month in the children’s ministry on Sunday mornings at church (5-7yrs & 8-12yrs). This will provide opportunities to pour into kids and build more meaningful relationships with them.
  • Assist in finding curriculum appropriate for our children’s ministry.
  • Provide extra programs/activities for children during church events where children/youth are present or require child care. i.e. Fundraisers, Parenting Course, Marriage Course, Sailing Day, Christmas, Easter, etc.
  • Volunteer lead at Kidz Club should we revive the program. This will be evaluated depending on time availability of volunteers.
  • Other related duties as assigned
  1. Youth Ministry-
  • Organize youth events at least 2x per month… up to 4x per month. Youth Events will include outreach and discipleship elements.
  • Collaborate with other churches (BCC, IBC) youth leaders to build broader Christian community among the youth in our area.
  • Effectively lead/communicate with a team of volunteers to help with youth ministry. This includes: volunteer leaders, parents, drivers, meal-preppers, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervision

  • CYI will meet once per month for ministry meeting with TC Pastor/Staff to check in on life and ministry.
  • CYI may have required readings/training as part of staff meetings.

Time Commitment- 12 Hours/week- $600/month
