OUR BELIEFS

Rooted in Scripture. Centered on Jesus.

At Tamarindo Church, our beliefs are grounded in the truth of God’s Word and the good news of Jesus Christ. We align with historic Christian doctrine and with the EFCA Statement of Faith.

What shapes us

Our beliefs are not meant to be abstract ideas sitting on a page. They shape how we worship, how we teach, how we care for people, and how we seek to live as followers of Jesus.

Everything we do as a church flows from what we believe about God, Scripture, salvation, the Church, and the hope we have in Christ.

In simple terms

The Bible is our foundation We believe Scripture is true, trustworthy, and authoritative for faith and life.
Jesus is at the center Our message, hope, and salvation are all found in the person and work of Jesus Christ.
Grace changes everything We are saved by God’s grace through faith, and transformed by His Spirit.

What we believe

These statements summarize core biblical convictions that guide Tamarindo Church and connect us to historic, orthodox Christian faith.

God One God — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit
We believe in one God, Creator of all things, holy and infinitely perfect, eternally existing in a loving unity of three equally divine Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. God has graciously purposed from eternity to redeem a people for Himself and make all things new for His glory.
The Bible Inspired, trustworthy, and authoritative
We believe God has spoken in the Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, through the words of human authors. As the verbally inspired Word of God, the Bible is without error in the original writings, the complete revelation of His will for salvation, and the ultimate authority by which every realm of human knowledge and endeavor should be judged.
The Human Condition Created in God’s image, fallen in sin
We believe God created Adam and Eve in His image, but they sinned when tempted by Satan. As a result, humanity fell from original innocence and now all people are sinners by nature and by choice, alienated from God and under His just judgment. Only through God’s saving work in Jesus can we be reconciled and restored.
Jesus Christ Fully God, fully man, our Savior
We believe Jesus Christ is God incarnate, fully God and fully man, one Person in two natures. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He lived a sinless life, was crucified under Pontius Pilate, rose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, and now intercedes for His people as our High Priest and Advocate.
The Work of Christ The cross and resurrection secure salvation
We believe Jesus Christ, by His obedience and sacrificial death, fully paid the penalty for our sins. His death is substitutionary and sufficient, and His bodily resurrection is the declaration of God’s victory over sin, death, and Satan. Salvation is found in Him alone.
The Holy Spirit Convicts, regenerates, indwells, and empowers
We believe the Holy Spirit glorifies the Lord Jesus Christ and, during this age, convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment. He regenerates sinners, indwells believers, illuminates Scripture, gives spiritual gifts, and empowers God’s people for holy living and ministry.
The Church One body of Christ, expressed in local churches
We believe the true Church comprises all who have been justified by God’s grace through faith alone in Christ alone. The Church is expressed visibly in local congregations, where the Word is preached, the ordinances are practiced, disciples are formed, and God’s people live together in fellowship, worship, and mission.
Christian Living Grace not only saves us, but transforms us
We believe God’s justifying grace must not be separated from His sanctifying power and purpose. God commands us to love Him supremely and others sacrificially, and to live out the Gospel in holiness, compassion, justice, and faithful witness in the world.
Christ’s Return Our blessed hope
We believe in the personal, bodily, and glorious return of our Lord Jesus Christ. The coming of Christ is our blessed hope and has vital bearing on personal life and service. It motivates holy living, sacrificial service, and faithful endurance.
Response and Eternal Destiny Repentance, faith, resurrection, and judgment
We believe God commands everyone everywhere to repent and believe the Gospel by receiving Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. We believe in the bodily resurrection of both the just and the unjust, the everlasting blessedness of the saved in the presence of God, and the everlasting conscious punishment of the lost.
