TC Update/Announcements- September, 2015

Looking back on August, we had a great month here at Tamarindo Church.  One of the big highlights of the month was the Men’s Retreat that we took last week up in Nicaragua.

Men’s Retreat

The drive up was filled with adventures… like getting the full treatment from customs agents for bringing spearguns across the border (for fishing), and then an interesting checkpoint stop with the police.  But after a 12 hour trip that should have taken seven, we finally got to our destination.  But as road trips go, the time was well spent having great conversations about life and faith   … and that continued to set the tone for the rest of our time together.  Over the next three days that we were there, we watched several video talks from the men’s No Regrets Conference… which led us into time of discussion about what it means to be Christian fathers and husbands… and what it means to be faithful followers of Christ.  Thank you to those of you who were praying for us.  I (Lyle) couldn’t have hoped for a more meaningful trip for our men.  God showed up in our times together, we caught some fun surf, we all returned home in one piece… in less than 7 hours!!

Welcome!

Another highlight of this past month has been the influx of new families and individuals who have been coming to church.  So we’d just like to say an official “Welcome” to you all, and we hope that you find Tamarindo Church to be a welcoming spiritual home for however long you spend here in Costa Rica.  And for those of you who have been here in Costa Rica for a while, as you remember what it was like as you first settled into life in Costa Rica…. be sure to extend a welcome to the new faces you see at church.

Be sure to read below for details on a few events coming up this month… particularly the Comedy Night Fundraiser to be held this Friday, our Kidz Club Kick-Off on the 11th, and our Pizza Fellowship which will be on the 20th this month.

All proceeds go to support Las Playas Food Bank that helps to feed 40 local families… and toward The Mercies of God Men’s Rehabilitation Center near Santa Cruz.

This Sunday, Sept. 20th- Pizza Fellowship
Join us this Sunday after Church for hanging out, pizza, and a swim in the pool at Monkey Bar/Tamarindo Best Western Vista Villas.  Don’t forget your bathing suit and towel.  Hope to see you there!

Youth Group-

TC Youth -“The Road” 
Youth Group for students Grades 6-12
Being a young adult is not an easy road.  Life is hard, choices are many and challenging, and we want to create a space where teens and pre-teens can come together to encourage and support each other and where we can help point them to the true love of Jesus Christ.  Romans 8:38-39
We meet bi-weekly during the traditional north American school year to have fun, play games, eat food and grow together in our knowledge of Christ and his love for us.
Our meetings in September will be as follows
  • Sunday, 9/6 – 5:30-7:30pm at Tamarindo Church
  • Sunday, 9/20- 5:30-7:30pm at Tamarindo Church
We have dinner together every Sunday that we meet – if you want to volunteer to make something one night, please let us know!

Kidz Club Tamarindo– 
Kicks-off on September 11th!!!!
Welcome back everyone!!!  We will be meeting every Friday night from 5:45-7:30, Kidz Club rocks it for kids ages 5-12. Come join in the fun, games, activities, snacks, music and learn about how much God loves them. Great date night opportunity for the parents too!!! All kids are welcome:)

Skate Club- Wednesdays @ 4:30pm

Skate Club meets every Wednesday @ 4:30pm 
Kids 6-10yrs welcome.  Skate session is followed by a
group bible study with the kids.
 
Location: El Mutante Skate Park, Playa Negra
