August has been a good month here at Tamarindo Church. We are still getting late summer visitors, and we are beginning to see more and more folks returning from their summer visits/vacations with family. It’s great having our church family back together again!
This past month, Stacey and I were invited to Auburn Grace Community Church in Auburn California. Auburn Grace has been supporting Tamarindo
Church since we planted back in 2013, and they continue to support us today through prayer and financial support. While there, we were able to give an update on all that God has been doing in and through Tamarindo Church over the past six years. I also preached a message on Jesus’ teaching on remaining in the vine… and bearing fruit for the kingdom.
Auburn Grace is coming behind Tamarindo Church in a significant way this year in that they will be helping with raising funds for the completion of the new church building, and they plan to send a mission team in December to help with painting, building a stage, and other finishing touches on the church. We are SUPER grateful for their generosity and love shown toward Tamarindo Church, and we look forward to having them with us in December. Thank you Auburn Grace! And thank you Tim and Bridget for your “awespitality” (awesome hospitality)!
NICARAGUA- IN A TIME OF NEED
In the last newsletter, I shared a bit about the ongoing political crisis in Nicaragua and how it is affecting our friends in Cristo Rey that we have been serving over the past 6 years. Below, I’ve put together a short video and some basic information that I encourage you to take time to view. Just scroll down to “Nicaragua in Time of Need”, and you can watch the video.
As you can see from picture here, the building project is progressing quickly. The second floor has been poured, the framing for the roofing is done, and next week the roofing will be put on the building. Exciting stuff! In the last newsletter, we mentioned that the building would be completed by February 2019, but the builder is saying that… at the pace we’ve been going… the building could be finished as early as December-January. Crazy! Some of you have mentioned wanting to be here for our inaugural service, so we will keep you posted as we get a better idea of when that will be. Click Here to see pics on Facebook of the construction progress. Also… the latest update on our fundraising effort is that we still have $61,540 to be raised. Of this amount, $20,000 has been pledged, and we are hopeful that one of our church partners will be able to raise $40,000 toward the building project. This leaves us with $23,334 still to be raised to reach our goal for construction.
I should also mention at this time that as we have gotten into the thick of this project, we have run into unexpected changes that we’ve had to make in the building design. This of course means that we have run into some unexpected changes in cost. Because of these changes, we have had to prioritize what parts of the project get completed.. and what parts get put on hold. We added in 15% for unforeseen expenses in the original budget for construction, but it appears that we should have added in a bit more. We are still calculating what the final number will be on the total cost. Once we nail that down, we will send out an email letting you know what our financial need is in order to complete finishing touches on the church.
Thank you so much to all of you who have given to our efforts so far. And for those of you who would like to contribute financially or learn more about this project, please CLICK HERE Thank you!

Hey Everyone,
Youth nights at Tamarindo Church create an environment where teenagers feel welcomed and safe to be themselves.
Each week, we start with some crazy games… followed by a time of digging into the Bible together to figure out who Jesus is and what He is all about. All 6th – 12th grade students are invited!

Tamarindo Church Prayer Requests
That God would guide us in our vision and strategy for reaching and serving our community.
MINISTRY TEAM
Thanks be to God for our staff and volunteers who serve in many roles in the church. Please pray that God would continue to build a sense of unity and family among our core church members… especially our Board, our Ministry Leadership Team, and our Volunteer Team. Please pray that God would bless our ministry team with gifts of the Spirit to serve and lead well.
FINANCES
Please pray that God would meet our financial needs for our operating budget this year through pledges and regular supporters.
OUTREACH
That God would create a spiritual hunger in our community, and that we would see many come to a saving faith in Jesus Christ. Please pray that our church members would be salt and light in the community to those who are not saved.
CHURCH LIFE
Thanks and praise be to God in providing the initial finances needed to start construction of the church. At this time we are only $23,334 away from meeting our financial needs for completed construction of the church. Please pray with us for God’s provision for this remaining amount.
NICARAGUA
Please pray for those who are suffering from the political and social unrest in Nicaragua. For the poor who are suffering most, and for those who have lost loved ones in the violence. Pray for peaceful resolution to the problems Nicaragua is facing.
LYLE & STACEY
For spiritual wisdom and direction as we lead the church.
For Stacey’s job in real estate… that she would find good balance between family, ministry and work… and not feel over-stressed or anxious. And that she would earn enough to cover our children’s school tuition.
OUR FAMILY
Please pray for our children Olivia and Wolfie… that they would continue to grow to know, love, and serve our Lord. And for spiritual protection over our family.
SPIRITUAL PROTECTION
Prayer of spiritual protection over our church and our Ministry Teams…. guarding us from spiritual attack and oppression, and anything that causes disunity and divisiveness in the body of Christ at Tamarindo Church.
