May 2015 Update/Announcements

Hello Friends,

Well… the rainy season has finally arrived in Guanacaste!! It seemed to have come out of nowhere this year. There were no sprinkles or drizzles in the weeks prior to warn us. Then… one night out of the blue, the rain just came upon us… waking most of us up at about 3:00am to the sound of blasts of thunder and showering rains. But despite being woken up at 3:00am -two nights in a row- the rain was welcomed by all.  Last year we hardly got any rain in May and June, and that made for water shortage in the high season.  So… thank God for the rain, and we pray it keeps coming!

This past month we had a great time celebrating Easter Sunday with a packed house at church.  The sermon that Sunday was based on Jesus’ gracious words spoken to the thief who was crucified on the cross next to him.  Jesus said to the man, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.”  In these words, God has revealed himself to us as a God who is truly merciful and forgiving.  And so we celebrated our awesome God… who not only forgives us… but who has made a way for us to enter the amazing hope of eternal life with him in paradise.  Thank you Jesus!  Following the service, about 70 of us headed over to the home of Derick and Angeline Smith for a good old fashion Easter Cookout.   And while the adults had a great time of fellowship… the kids enjoyed  an easter egg hunt, fun in the pool, and an inflatable jump house to boot.  Good times!  We’d like to say a huge THANK YOU to Derick and Angeline for opening their home and preparing a most wonderful setting for us to celebrate together.  And thank you to everyone else who pitched in to make this day a success.

I think most everyone knows by now… but in case you didn’t, Kidz Club is back in full swing again!  We will be meeting every Friday from now until the end of the school year.  We’ve already had a couple of fun Fridays with theme nights like Watermelon Madness and Super Hero Night.  Be sure to bring your kids by on Fridays at 5:45 for a great time of games, songs, and a message from the bible.

Lastly, Ladies… be sure to mark your calendars and sign up for the women’s retreat coming up later this month at La Carolina Lodge.  It is sure to be a great time, so don’t miss it!! More details can be found in the announcements below.
