TC Special Update

Hey TC Family,

For those of you who were with us yesterday at church or online for the service, you know this already.  But for those of you who were not able to join us… with a heavy heart, we let the congregation know that I will be resigning as Pastor at Tamarindo Church on February 28, 2010.  The primary reason for my resignation is that we feel called to be with my family in the US as my mother is experiencing significant health issues.  Please continue reading below this message where you will find the letter of resignation that I have already shared with our local church and board. And below that letter you will also find a copy of thestatement from the TC Board accepting my resignation.

There is so much more to say in this email, but I think you will find our feelings and thoughts in this time of transition summed up best in my sermon from yesterday at Church.  You can find that message on our TC Facebook Page or by clicking here to listen via a Zoom recording.

It has been a blessing and a privilege to serve our church and community these past eight years at Tamarindo Church, and in the years prior during our leadership at Beach Community Church.  We will look back on these years with fondness and with a gratefulness in our hearts to God for allowing us to partner with Him in advancing his Kingdom in Tamarindo… and the surrounding communities.
In Christ’s Love,
Lyle & Stacey

Good Morning Tamarindo Church Family,

This morning I have an important announcement to make.  It is with a heavy heart that I am letting you know… that I be resigning from my position as Pastor of Tamarindo Church.

After much prayer and lengthy discussion with my wife, TC board members, my pastoral coach, and respected friends who we seek counsel and wisdom from in times of difficult decisions, Stacey and I have decided to move back to the United States to be with my parents during this season when my mother is suffering from health issues.  My mom is in advanced stage dementia, and my father is the primary caregiver for my mom at this time… and we are feeling called to be with them in this season.

I will continue to serve as pastor at Tamarindo Church until February 28th, 2021, which will be my last day as pastor at Tamarindo Church… and my official date of resignation.

Stacey and I will always look back at our years of serving Tamarindo Church and the community with thankfulness to God for all that He has done, and all that He has allowed us to be a part of.

Stacey and I will be working with the TC Board and leadership over the coming months to assure that Tamarindo Church has as smooth a transition as possible as we search for our new pastor at Tamarindo Church.  And we will still be here in Costa Rica over the next couple of months, so if any of you feel the desire or need to connect, or just have questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

And finally, “thank you” all… for partnering with us in life and ministry over these past eight years.  Tamarindo Church would not have gotten to where it is today without your prayers, your generosity, and your service.

I’m sure there are some questions that you have… and I hope to address most of those questions in my message that I will be sharing with you in a moment.

But for now… I want to invite our acting President of the Tamarindo Church Board, Bridget Uhler, to share a few words on behalf of our leadership Board.

Good morning

My name is Bridget Uhler and I am currently the acting president of the Tamarindo Church Board of Directors. As the acting board president, I have been asked to speak to the Tamarindo Church a little in regards to this transition of Pastor Lyle’s resignation. I do this with a heavy heart, as I’m sure I speak for all of us, we love him and his family and will miss them.

Pastor Lyle and Stacey shared their reasons and prayerful decision with the board this week with the same heavy heart. Knowing and having been through much with their family, seeing and also being the recipients of their faithfulness and love, we have confidence that they did not make this decision outside of the will of God. With that said, we unanimously support their decision and have given them our blessing on this new season. We all have vowed to support them in any way we can and we will continue to walk with them.

We as a board trust that God has appointed this time and transition. We consider it a privilege to partner with God, and so we also vow to continue to move the vision of Tamarindo Church through this transition and beyond. There is a good plan in place that will help us to find the next Pastor that God has been raising up for us.  And as your board we intend to be here for you… through this transition and for the new incoming pastor. We will continue to pray for God’s wisdom, guidance and also very important, unity, as we believe God calls us to unity for such a time as this.

We believe, because of The Watson Family’s faithfulness, they are leaving us with an amazing foundation. Their family has poured out the love of God on the community of Tamarindo and on this family of faith. They leave a beautiful Kingdom presence because of their heart to see God made known.

Our hope now is that you will join us in prayer as we continue to discern God’s will, that we would love one another through this time, and that we would all partner together to make the transition as smooth as possible. We will be available if you have any questions and would love to talk with you.

Pastor Lyle, Stacey, Olivia and Wolfie, words are not enough to express our gratitude for all you have done. We love you and bless you in this new season.

In Christ,
Bridget Uhler
